More Study Cafés in Tokyo: A University Student’s Recommendations (Part 2)

Are you currently a high school or university student looking for a laptop-friendly, charging-friendly café with free Wi-Fi to get some work done? We’ve got you covered! Here are three more café recommendations around Tokyo that I've personally found worth checking out when you need a change of scenery from your usual study spot. If you missed part 1, read it here.

1. Ochanomizu University's Seattle Express Café

📍 Located at: Ochanomizu University, International Student Plaza, 1F

💻 Laptop-friendly, with free Wi-Fi, but no charging facilities. Whether you're catching up on lectures, working on an assignment, or simply looking for somewhere to study between classes, this café is worth checking out. Tucked away behind a cluster of plants, it makes you feel secluded from the busy streets of Tokyo.

🍕 Food and drinks: One of the perks is that you don't have to settle for just a coffee! They offer a selection of pizzas, paninis, and cakes, making it a nice spot to grab a bite while getting some work done.

2. ALPHA BETA COFFEE CLUB, Jiyugaoka

📍 Located at: 〒152-0035 Tokyo, Meguro City, Jiyugaoka, 2 Chome−10−4 ミルシェ自由が丘 3F

💻 Laptop-friendly, free Wi-Fi and charging outlets! If you're looking for somewhere to settle down with your laptop, this cafe is worth checking out. There is a large communal table with power outlets underneath, making it particularly convenient for students who need to charge their devices while studying.

🍰 Food and drinks: Speciality coffee is the main attraction, with a rotating selection of coffee beans sourced from different Japanese roasters. You can also find breakfast options and light bites to enjoy alongside your coffee.

⏰ A little heads-up: There may be a two-hour seating limit, so keep this in mind if you're planning a longer study session!

3. NEW YORKER'S Cafe, Takadanobaba

📍 Located at: 〒169-0075 Tokyo, Shinjuku City, Takadanobaba, 1 Chome−33−13 千年ビル 1F

💻 Laptop-friendly, Wi-Fi and charging outlets! Conveniently located near Takadanobaba Station, NEW YORKER'S Cafe is another option for students looking for somewhere to get some work done. With power outlets available at selected seats, you can comfortably work on your laptop without worrying about running out of battery. ☕Food and drinks: From coffee and espresso-based drinks to sandwiches and light bites, there's plenty to choose from if you fancy grabbing something to eat while studying.

All in all, Tokyo is home to a wonderful selection of cafés, many of which welcome students looking for an alternative study environment outside their homes or university campuses. Make use of these spaces to find an environment that best supports your productivity and learning.

At Kokusaba, we offer personalised tutoring tailored to your individual academic needs, with flexible sessions available online, at your home, or even at your favourite café.
